This is a movie well enough. What brought me the satanic influences in rock and roll boys and research, I found a lot. I came across the truth, the YouTube documentary ", have sold his soul to Rock". Watch unlike musicians are ways Aliester Satanist Crowley, et al. Attract talent and fame to the character of Ralph Macchio, the natural talent. I thought that if the devil's music, politics and external relations and boys, and I found the secret societies, andNew World Order. Satan deceived the power, temperature, and the people. In fact, God gave him a provisional government in the world. He also tried to Jesus: "All you," he said, "when the bow and worship me.". Matt. 4:9. However, as Robert Johnson and many of those who have sold their souls for the temporary wealth, fame and power, too late to find that trade is immoral. "For what avail themselves of a man if he gains the whole world but loses his life?" Mark 8.36. InInstead, Jesus promises a real business, said: "Whoever finds his life will lose it, whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 10:39. Unlike the empty promises of Satan, Jesus already proved his death on the cross and live for our sins and rose again.

The legend of Mississippi blues master Robert Johnson has served as a fountainhead for generations of blues and rock musicians, as well as a powerful fable for the dark, often violent mysteries of delta blues. Johnson’s mythic deal with the Devil, in exchange for his extraordinary musical gifts, has become a fixture in blues lore and an example of the enduring pull of superstitions that can be traced back to Mother Africa and Yoruba deities. Producer-director Walter Hill (The Long Riders, Streets of Fire) sought to put this uniquely American mystery on film, but when he was unable to secure a script devoted directly to Johnson himself, Hill bravely decided to proceed with a more oblique, allegorical story that retold the Satanic bargain through a fictionalized drama set in the present day. In this 1986 feature, the hero is Eugene, a classically trained guitar virtuoso pulled toward the earthier powers of blues. When he stumbles across a lost blues legend, Willie Brown (a real blues figure and Johnson peer known for his partnerships with Charley Patton and Son House, among others), Eugene begins an odyssey back to the delta country and the crossroads of the title, where both Willie and Johnson had traded their souls for blues power, to help the surviving bluesman renegotiate terms.
An opening sequence, shot in sepia-toned black and white, dramatizes Johnson’s own supernatural encounter, as well as one of the bluesman’s historic Texas recording sessions, and Hill’s visuals combine with frequent collaborator Ry Cooder’s reliably authentic slide guitar to offer a promising glimpse of cinematic conjury. Even the satanic villain–a grinning huckster named Scratch–honors the trickster figure familiar to African American superstitions, rather than a generic devil. Willie Brown (Joe Seneca) is likewise a convincing link to the blues past, but Hill’s central casting choice–Ralph (The Karate Kid) Macchio–sacrifices all for marquee value, a Hobson’s choice that casts a shadow of unintended parody across the film. Macchio’s earlier character, not Scratch, haunts this film, and even a nifty duel between Eugene, his slashing fretwork supplied off-camera by Cooder, and Scratch’s ax-wielding henchman, heavy metal virtuoso, and one-time Frank Zappa protégé Steve Vai, can’t safely rescue the film. –Sam Sutherland

Road Trip Movie: Pop & Me Review
Posted by Happy on February 19th, 2010
I just finished watching a great movie with my father. I confess, I bought at Tower Records at the cost of renting a sensation, and assess the extent of this movie could go either way. (Picture on the back topless Julian Lennon has not done anything to impress me.) As it turned out, was the best six U.S. dollars I spent all year.
This is a moving film that explores the relationship between father and son, 6-month trip around the world. This filmexample of why I prefer to be able to provide documentation on the best of Hollywood. Moments of emotion in this film highlights the fact that they are honest and genuine. Inspired and captured the way fathers and sons, filmmakers from around the world through their love for each other, sometimes rocky reltionship director and his father juxtiposed, and it is very humane and surprising film.
Overview
It took a trip around the world for Richard and Chris, a father-and-son filmmaking team, to discover something great each other. This award-winning*, poignant and often funny film documents their globe-trotting adventure, showcased by interviews of fathers and sons from all walks of life. A ’satisfying, sentimental trip ( Mr. Showbiz ), Pop & Me is a sly examination of tension and bonding that crosses generations (Variety) and gets right to the heart of family love and devotion. For six months, a retired Wall Street banker (Richard) and his filmmaker son (Chris) travel the world collecting candid and touching stories from fathers and sons. Their journey pieces together a rich tapestry of tales as varied as the men they interview, and one, from Julian Lennon, includes a shocking revelation about his famous pop music father. But these fathers and sons serve as a heartwarming backdrop to the personal drama that unfolds between Richard and Chris, whose own relationship is put to the test * 1999: Audience Award for Best Feature, Los Angeles Independent Film Festival

This video documentation of a father-son journey around the world got media play for its unusual premise. Dad Richard Roe decided to dispose of his life savings to re-create a trip he took with his family back when he was happily married with three young sons. His middle son sees the chance for a film and talks Pop into a free ride. The pair trek from the Bronx to Italy, Soweto, New Delhi, New Zealand, and back in 190 days of tearful revelations and almost constant carping. In between their battles, the duo interview international father-son teams. Most describe mutually supportive relationships, but Julian Lennon makes a brief appearance criticizing his father’s abandonment style of parenting and a South African father speaks frankly of his inadequacies in raising his brain-damaged son. Meanwhile Pop and son bicker about purse strings, until the elder Roe finally hands them over. Curiously, most of the father’s alleged controlling behavior happens off-camera, so the director son allows himself to come off as whiny for much of the 90 minutes. He compensates, however, with the father-son bungee jump at the end. –Kimberly Heinrichs

Very well-made documentary. Can not believe that I have never heard Pop & Me, far. It 'a great success, the father-son team – who have never been produced. And their mutual … interviews and wonderful that this film very moving and touching. Interview with Julian Lennon (a), including deleted scenes very sad – but worth watching. Many touching moments! Road Trip Movie: Horatio’s Drive – America’s First Road Trip Review
Posted by Happy on February 18th, 2010
In 1903, Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson, the note heard in a club in San Francisco, mens', the horseless carriage will not last more than a toy. Immediately bet $ 50.00 to travel around the country in 90 days, it could be. It's a wonderful story of how he spent more than $ 8000.00 of his own money to bet, if won, but never collected. different to try, but he was the first success. Much talk about new technologies, but few, like the Wright brothers, Lindbergh and Dr. Jacksonwilling to risk their money and reputation to support their faith in new technologies. Overall, generally an excellent documentary by Ken Burns, entertaining and informative. PBS is the best one.
Overview
Subtitled “America’s First Road Trip,” Horatio’s Drive captures the remarkable odyssey of Horatio Nelson Jackson, a doctor from Vermont who–accompanied by a former professional bicyclist and a bulldog named Bud–helmed the first trip from coast to coast in a car. In 1903, after making a bet he could drive to New York City in 90 days, Nelson set off from San Francisco in a used Winton two-seater than he bought for 00 and proceeded to cross a country where most roads, if they existed at all, were still made of dirt. Pulling together newspaper articles, period movies, and Jackson’s own photographs and passionate love letters to his wife, famed documentarian Ken Burns crafts a love letter of his own to the automobile and the ways it has shaped American life. Horatio’s Drive is both educational and completely entertaining. –Bret Fetzer

A small morsel of entertainment! – V. Cruz – Ontario, Ca.
What a beautiful story, Burns registered with the restoration of the segments and old photographs. In truth, a piece of entertainment for 2 hours, instead of the normal 10 hours + Burns detailed version of the story.
This story has a lively start, middle and end of an amazing reach. I can not get enough of this piece, so if you have not seen it, then get in and enjoy. Oh, yes, I should change my DVD player and put in this jewel of a 2-Joyride hours.
Amazing – David J. Grant – San Diego, CA
I am with this film, especially for research on novel, but I recommend it for anyone who wants to know something about our history. Or, if you want to hear a dramatic story that is riveting and fascinating as well.

Included are letters home to tell Horatio, his way, a daily journey and the last photos taken on the road. This is a story little knownremarkable man, his companion and his dog on an adventure that I found a wonderful part of American history.

Road Trip Movie: Charlie Ahearn: Fear of Fiction Review

I bought this movie from Amazon, because it was Sam Trammell True Blood on HBO. As a big fan of the show, I know, I should check this film, I think, this is Sam Trammell first major role, and it is finally released on DVD! I was also surprised by the fact that the Oscar-nominated movie stars, including Melissa Leo in Frozen River. Wow two great actors! The film is about a woman (Leo), which corresponds to a newspaper ad placed on Red (Sam Trammell), crosses the country to try towriters block clear mind. Although it sounds like a threadbare story – even making a few trips, it looks like a very original and memorable. This film is a true indie film classics, and a disgrace to the end, is one of the best movies I've seen for a long time. Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller memorable appearance as the speed addict who listens and loves music 60 garage, and I loved every minute. There are also some big PennJillette Outtakes into details, which are cute and funny. Was also music by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, and Evan Lurie of the Lounge Lizards. E 'was directed by cult New York Charles Ahearn, director of Wild Style. My recommendation is, watch this movie! You will not be disappointed. A tour writer's block!

I never heard of this movie. So I bought because Amazon offers cheap that I bought when Frozen River on DVD (Both films Melissa Leo). I am so happy that I decided to go home extra! During Frozen River proved to be so with great performance from Leo, Fear of Fiction completely blew me away! It 'strange hybrid of genres, which is made psychadelic road trip movie, movies unpleasant relationship. I like the change to all the experience of charactersThroughout the film. Leo is a real character, Sam Trammell (True Blood fame), and forms a bond.
The movie has tons of funny moments, and many moments of very strange. She threw me out in some way, but the movie was very interesting. It 'was one of those movies where you do not realize is gone until it's over. Always a good sign. Apparently seeking to be freed for some time, and only recently arrived on DVD, which is the reason why has never heard of most people, evenif you have), a good cast (including a hilarious magic duo Penn and Teller. Pretty good underground films, you'll need (and want to see), several times to understand everything.

Road Trip Movie: Satan’s Blood Review

Are you tired of horror films, which always wins the good? Well, we do not always know a good success, it is nice to see the victory over Satanic evil puritans once.
This journey into the dark alleys mind begins innocently, with an attractive couple prepares for their firstborn. They are Satan's earthly pleasure to see so much fun, I can not believe that it is illegal involved. Their origin is slowly but steadily, and always wrongmove if it is a godsend for what they are. Apparently, it is not because they play well in the ritual of initiation that left his "recruitment" for them.
End teaches us that good always wins, we want to be in the same trap is a couple attractive, so you can enjoy the same never-ending corruption is serious.
The best way to get into this film, please, its black mass, before, during and after, followed bywild goings-production, so the neighbors wonder what the hell is happening here at home.

Satan’s Blood was one of the first of these “S” films and is still one of the most notorious.

Film Fun to use …. a little 'better than a story. Funny times! You can ask if it is followed by a complete stranger actually two more than an hour with the dog in the car, just to socialize and have a drink or two. World is not always a great job on the transfers. If you are interested in history and deep storyline for the special effects top – This belt is not for you. Recommend.

This film really does not provide a long list. it feels like an exercise in patience. Effort to find a story without any logic of anything! Concerns are at all levels. Excite a naked teenagers. And 'only good fuck and fill every scene feels terribly. There are some unintentionally funny parts, but not enough to hold in reality all they talk. end was painful, but easy to artificially visually interesting, if the main characters bite the living deadDeath. Giving other stars of this sequence very short, and that the filmmakers actually had the balls to kill main characters (though this is only temporarily). This is the first version of the world disappointed that I saw. In this sense, should be a major reconstruction of the mark. Too bad that the movie stinks.

Boring. Annoying. – Brendan Casey –
Do not waste time or money on this film. This movie absolutely boring. 1 1 / 2 hours that started with a total of 10 minutes of live poker and is currently very paper, the camera focuses only on the woman, Susan, still sitting on a chair, as bad luck. It's absolutely terrible poker player, was so in almost all tournaments, and when she complained on camera for 15 minutes aboutStep was, as the seat of luck, like a sweater on a chair, which was unfortunate, and ….. bla bla bla …… ….. Only the worst poker movie. Even a title would have thought that playing No Limit Hold 'em, but they were just games, Pot-Limit Omaha (eight or more), and stud hi-lo.
I'd only silent film shows only 1 tournament from beginning to end. Interviews with the stars of the poker worldwas interesting, but do not give advice, or even much about how to play poker or something. In fact, they are represented only as a degenerate gamblers, and only sleezeballs money grubbing. It is a pity, because many of the boys who were interviewed were so great that the work of public service and pay so much money. Barry Greenstein, as now devotes 100% of his poker winnings to charity, or even speak.
If you are really interested in poker, I am concernedit. For someone who is very familiar with poker and just tried to imagine what life is about poker players as …. maybe …..
Not worth the investment – Patrick Poulin – Edmonton, Canada
Which is very disappointing DVD. First of all, it is not No Limit Hold'em. When you lose a game to play with a little girl with big cubes talks poker player above to see. Well … This has a bad attitude up. The lesson is that poker is not as easy as a DVD or other books, as it seems.
Really worth the money, it is much better, like DVD Phil Gordon, who is excellent.
No Limit? Says who? I saw none – R. A. Bell – Sin City, USA
Ok first of all, the poker documentary begins with footage of your children and how big is your family, and then said: "A single parent of two opposite coast, is probably the best thing for a film about gambling. I knew I was in trouble, if so. In fact, two people who marry each other and must now be used together. Of course you can see that they are not together. They both have different objectives and points of view on life.
Then poker –Content. That the content of poker? Everything we see is the main character whining about how "cold" runs, but like great plays. It relies so heavily on luck, I think they will play a full dillusional games, which in reality. They play no limit once in the film, as the title would be reliable. Each tournament is 8 or Omaha 8 and Stud's all. The protagonist of the film are terribly uncomfortable, where each table for the happiness or unhappinessT-shirt … Yes damn 'shirt on the chair, was their excuse for the loss, even if "lucky" in the table. Is the table 44 Place 3 and Place said … "11 But it is really lucky!" Just bust a few hours later and blame something for their misfortune and the cards cold. I mean, seriously. They are trying to play poker tournament to life and turn to swing the decision or the outcome, so how are you?
Thirdly, there are many inaccuracies in the film. OnlySome are pointing to Harrah's first Binion Horseshoe, the Fremont Street, which is 100% wrong. They Becky Binion WSOP MTR was sold in 2004. Harrah's made just for 6 months until MTR its workers adequate training. Others included in the text on the screen, "Tournament 2 days 1, when in fact his third event. It 'was" Day 1 "or" Day 2 "all the events. Everything was done in an event per day. Why call the individualSite of the tournament not just a tournament, if not in reality?
The only saving grace of this film is part of talks with top professionals. There are a lot of information about what these guys tick, but seems to be getting money and nothing else. There are about love, family, life, how much money you can get to buy things, nothing to show for all their bottom line. Speaking of the devil fish, like riding in limousines and private jets and other observationstalking about the same things. Rather draws professionals who offer money, but nothing about anything of hungry people in society after they have been trying to change the picture for years.
2 / 5 stars just for the quality of production and some indications on how the pros think.

Road Trip Movie: Autopsy Review
Posted by Happy on February 12th, 2010
The last of the "8 Films To Die For" I saw that this year is likely to be "fun." Other films seemed to want to commit suicide with their problems and areas of heavy colds, supports, autopsy gore harkens back to the old days of horror, over-psychos-top happy and dry.
This does not mean autopsy is the best film festival, but it is perhaps the most wildly entertaining. Well-worn story of five children of school age in Louisiana at the endis in a car accident. The next thing you know they are kidnapped in a nearby hospital, notify the ambulance with her husband, ran to tell them to leave the hospital was before surgery.
Clearly, once there, is not General Hospital! Methodically baby sister separated from any other than our protagonist, Emily, the question remains, abandoned stores in search of their friends. Soon residents will flee "madDoctor, "living organism, seems to maintain his wife dying.
Well, do not worry – not to reveal plot twists and surprises here, this is a film about the history and mystery – it's just a piece of land on which they depend to some very terrible scene. If you like gore, you can still find a little 'how this movie – from separate parts, drills on their heads and faces with blood, guts and pummeled to all other people (literally), and really bizarre fully operationalsee to believe!
Fortunately, the filmmakers know what they do, they are here and not try for a moment to make a serious attempt at realism. Although the film is not stupid, like Evil Dead franchise, it is always good Funhouse everything. Actors play their appropriate, with Jenette Goldstein, perhaps the most beautiful moments, like a germ-phobic sister. Camera, lighting, bus stops are all in fact did for the genre.
I probablyput the movie on top of the heap, but there are some problems with the last act a little 'disappointed. First, the authors seem that their energy, the film ends and you end up with many scenes of people walking alone in empty warehouses closing time. This is done so that the public moment to wonder why these children should not leave the hospital. And just when you expect kick-start ride-hunting, if we want our last victim againIt seems that the pace of lay people, and then the next thing you know, it's over.
And there are some changes really hurt at the end. In one scene, our hero caught and imprisoned, and then we will see, one of the boys, we thought immediately entered the room. But instead of seeing once again, the comparison is just passing right through the scene and turned for a coffee or something. Emily then rises slightly 'to hold the doctor and ranDirection. Next slide, two runs for his life on the stairs, without let or because it is returned. This is a very delicate moment, that a carefully constructed mood ruined hunting.
Instead, he sees a picture of Emily from the stairs (again at the place where they have no reason to be there, and should Hoofing) in front of the door. This picture is clearly taking the film from above, as a weapon, lostMore scene before and suddenly, his shirt is clean, after vomiting all before. In the second half later, he returned, armed with a T-shirt colors.
But these are minor quibbles – the worst time of the end of time the film is so bad, and turned it into reality means that the entire 90 minutes of nothing. Odors continue after last-minute. I'm still thinking that the writers run out of energy or interest, and only said: "Oh,Do just that. . . This is pretty good. "After we enjoyed the rest of the movie, I was left shaking his head wondering what you think of the world, unfortunately, a bad end can destroy otherwise good film, and this is the case.
After so many bad films festival this year, I will really be better – and much of it was. But, as a spray of gas at the end I was not disappointed. Butever be remembered as a classic genre, is certainly the most entertaining film you'll be 8 this year.

I have now seen three of the eight films from the After Dark Horrorfest3 to be honest, the autopsy is the order better than either slaughtered or Perkins 14 (even if it is, I can only think of three movies Horrorfest abandoned in recent years, to measure – Nacho Cerda, disorders, and JS Cardone's Wicked Little Things). This does not mean, however, that a good movie from a larger set of all the movies, or even all the movies that go for that reason. All of you have seen at least ten times, but perhaps no one had everappropriate pieces together in this way, and not (in America anyway), with actors who have these big names. Anyway, nothing different from his other films stripes vis-a-vis the plot, characters, acting, direction, bla bla bla, and if there's one thing American films with a desperately low-budget horror need is something that is different from the anonymous crowd of low-budget horror films that have published in this country each year. Not so bad to kill an hourand a half, but we can do things better. How to play solitaire during tazed every ten minutes rabid lemur with Crohn's disease. **
Predictable but Has its moments – Tim Janson – Michigan
Group of five friends returning home after visiting New Orleans Mardi Gras. Have an accident on a remote country road, hitting a man who wandered into the woods. The term "accident" occurs and the ambulance takes the group in an abandoned hospital. Now, on to the pitch, would you or I or anyone rational intelligence to run this place, seeing creepy sisters and Scott Travis, or even more frightening Head Nurse Marian (Jenette Goldstein of "foreigners" and "Near Dark ").But it is a horror film, and common sense, it is usually out the window, so that threw you enjoy the ride.
According to common sense, I think I got up and must be preceded by a survey of hospital beds empty in the vicinity of them. I have found in many hospitals, often getting up in the middle of the night, and I never had the need to migrate, and salt. Sister Marian happy Southern charm, enough to neutralize, so that what we know today, is a reason the left, and happyMake haste, anger, because I can not wait to punish the children for their participation in the hall.
Your meeting with a new man to the hospital, Dr. David Benway (Patrick) and his relaxed manner, almost crazy to think that the bed might not be so bad. Benway, but implementation of some very "Dr. Frankenstein", as a test for reasons that are obviously too soon.
As usual in these films, we have a heroine for women. Here Emily(Lowndes) to the hospital in search of his friend, Bobby, the first patient scans to Dr. Benway. Emily found twisted sadistic experiments workers and fighting for his life to survive.
From a technical standpoint, the autopsy well. The old hospital with its old-fashioned telephone and 1950 design gives the film atmosphere. Gore fans will not like violence, must be very disappointed, graphics, and there are parts of the bodyRich scattered around the screen, not to mention the intestine.
Performances are a mixed bag … Patrick Goldstein and two paramedics cruel revel in their roles, stereotypes, while their victims are very boring, and even Lowndes is not much fun to see the selection of the role of heroin.
An autopsy is expected, but it is almost in the films of this type. The setting is great and bad play their role on the handle of a decent entry this yearAfter Dark Horrorfest series.
Skip The Autopsy & Get Right To The Cremation – Brian Lueth – Chicago, IL United States
An autopsy is glaring as attraction haunted house is lit with a beauty reasonably normal and Beaus and surprisingly bloody act, it is unfortunate that when a positive end for me. I do not know why so many people dig those bands, but I found the concept of weak and hostile character, or, or one-dimensional. When the film goes on, I am convinced that I, in a perversion of the final frenzy, if I were a bit of a 'longer. In the end, it makes sense, alland I could not help but wonder if this is it.
I think the autopsy, with a weak premise, I just made too many questions, let me not really like. It 'was taken seriously Grand Guignol, and not sufficiently serious to justify buying exceptional "torture porn" label so many horror fans probably the last time. Imagine a low-budget, made-for-cable combination of the worst elements Mortuary Tobe Hooper and Dario Argento, Mother of tears, and you have yourselfconfusion, postmortem very forgetful.

Just another one of the same old thing – Micheal Hunt – Hellbourne
That's all I had seen something similar, where one falls in love with someone, but for someone else, it is unclear what can be done, then obviously play Beer Pong on the streets and go and have fun in a drunken fall, Draw apart, and until the end to celebrate their understanding of themselves. YAWNNNNNNN, but only that, according to Van Wilder 3, it seemed like the film itself. Do not expect anything memorable, which differs from other 100Type of film hollyweed back to the team each year.
Supplements are better than the movie… – Steve Kuehl – Ben Lomond, CA
Real surprises here, but I was sure that the expectations, as only two people came from the first Road Trip (DJ Qualls and mother tour). Our school follows the story of young people across the beer pong tournament in the national contest, and the problems they get there. On our way to learn to deal with some tedious subplots, many beautiful breasts, and a lot of beer pong. I dig this kind of movie and rental / sales very well when it revolves around beer, but it was closeAverage value of entertainment.
Picture and sound ok, but the accessories have been funnier and funnier film. Including:
* On The Road To Victory / Making Of – 25 minutes featurette with cast / crew interviews, which had some witty remarks about how fed, as a writer, continued the director on board (this crew Bring It On Follow – lose) American Pie sequel, and Slap Shot, as the cast and director, on this tour momI do not know the film, she is the first Road Trip.
* Ta Ta is bodacious babes – 3 minutes of ads the girls met their role (and half-shirts) for this sequence of the film.
* Chastity play up – 3 minutes of fun, a group of girls on their side.
* Get Your Balls Wet duration – 9:28 min voices opinion should play, I think it would be important for everyone to learn subtlety. Involves what he has learned in connection with their"Research" for the film.
* In the Buff – 5 minutes for the party had during the filming of the concert sequence at the end.
* Deleted Scenes – 5 minutes cuts to forget.
* Said Crash – 7 minutes, and frankly, it's more fun than the film.
The assessment is only a minute longer, and I saw nothing of the monumental "evaluation" of quality. Also, those in the background at a party. One of the film and two for the extras, the commanderotherwise. Enjoy.

Ice Cube has turned his frown upside down with the family-friendly screwball road movie Are We There Yet? We know the actor/rapper can use his trademark scowl to be funny (the Friday and Barbershop series), or to be mean (Boyz in the Hood)–but can he use it to melt kids’ hearts? That’s the question Are We There Yet? answers with a resounding yes for youngsters in the audience (which will be the lions’ share), but it’ll probably be an emphatic shrug for the grownups. The contrived plot has Cube playing a wannabe-player (as in ladies’ man) and ex-player (as in washed-up minor league baseball star) who now owns a sports memorabilia business. His partner, played by Jay Mohr is just a throwaway, as is the talented Nia Long, the single mom that Cube sets his blinged-out sights on. To try to get in her good graces, he offers to transport her two bratty kids in his pride-and-joy Lincoln Navigator for a joy ride to a distant city where she’s attending an emergency business meeting so they can have a New Year’s Eve celebration together. This kiddies version of Road Trip and Planes, Trains and Automobiles has its cute moments, but plenty more gross-out moments which will please the kids no end, especially as the Navigator gets more and more trashed. Suffice it to say they all learn about each others’ good sides and hearts are suitably melted all around–until after the credits roll, then you’ll probably forget about the whole thing.–Ted Fry

Overview
Based on the true story that captured the hearts of America, THE STRAIGHT STORY is one of those rare films offering powerful, uplifting entertainment for audiences of all ages. Directed by acclaimed director David Lynch (WILD AT HEART, MULHOLLAND DRIVE), this gentle, inspiring film celebrates the human spirit. Richard Farnsworth (MISERY, THE NATURAL) stars as Alvin Straight — a no-nonsense man who has never been one to lean on others. Now at an age when his eyesight denies him the ability to drive and walking is accomplished only with the help of two canes, Alvin lives a quiet life with his daughter Rose (Sissy Spacek). But when the call comes that Alvin’s estranged brother Lyle (Harry Dean Stanton, THE GREEN MILE) has suffered a debilitating stroke, Alvin embarks on a dangerous and emotional journey to make amends. With little money, but plenty of patience and tenacity, he climbs aboard his 1966 John Deere lawnmower and plots the 260-mile course from his small Iowa town to Lyle’s home in Wisconsin. Filmed along the actual route that the real Alvin Straight traveled in 1994, THE STRAIGHT STORY is a heartwarming and poignant drama chronicling Alvin’s six-week odyssey and the many lives he touches along the way.
Specifications
Throughout The Straight Story, 73-year-old Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth) gazes calmly at the night sky, as if the stars were reflections of his own memories. Alvin’s eyesight is bad and his daughter (Sissy Spacek) is slightly retarded and unable to drive, so he’s traveling from Laurens, Iowa to Mt. Zion, Wisconsin on a riding John Deere lawn mower. It’s slow going, so there’s plenty of time to stop for the night and ponder the cosmos. Alvin’s journeying to visit his ailing brother; they haven’t spoken in years, and it’s time to make peace. Along the way, he befriends a variety of nice folks, and you have to ask yourself… Is this really a David Lynch movie?
It’s a miracle that this G-rated Disney film was made by a director whose work is often described as twisted and bizarre. But Lynch is too complex an artist to be labeled, and he brings charm, grace, and kindness to his fact-based telling of The Straight Story–not to mention a serenity rarely found in movies anymore. It’s a film of moments–funny, odd, quietly spiritual–and this simple tale of a man, a lawnmower, and rural hospitality becomes a genuine Lynchian odyssey, unlike any film you’ve seen but as welcoming as a cup of lemon tea with honey. Best of all, it’s a fitting tribute to the career of veteran stuntman-actor Farnsworth who, at age 79, plays Alvin Straight to sheer perfection, his face a subtle roadmap to a broad spectrum of emotional destinations. –Jeff Shannon

This film was a great lesson in life that has the character of Richard Farnsworth along its path.
This is a great family movie and I always see.
Although it moves slowly, keeping your interest.
A Wonderful Story – Constant Reader – USA
My younger son absolutely loved this movie and our original copy, which was transferred, and so was excited to get a new one. The story is based on the true story and very inspiring – The family is important, and respect for oneself and others. My only complaint is the way in which the character Sissy Spacek stutters when he speaks – I think the real person the character is based on no, but has been transferred. Otherwise, his character is wonderful. Our whole family watches and clocks re –film.
What do you mean you have never heard of this movie?? – Janice Parcell –
I can not believe how many people have never heard of this movie. Do not! Masterpiece!
